The Role

The Customs Brokerage Trade Compliance Specialist will ensure that all import activities comply with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations and other government agency requirements. This person will act as a trusted advisor to importers, supporting the brokerage team with regulatory guidance, compliance program maintenance, and expert consulting to help clients navigate complex import regulations and mitigate risk.

What You'll Do
  • Classify a wide range of imported products, ensuring accurate HTS assignment using appropriate tools and resources
  • Apply strong working knowledge of the General Rules of Interpretation (GRIs), Explanatory Notes, and U.S. Customs regulations
  • Demonstrate expertise in Partner Government Agency (PGA) requirements, including FDA, USDA, EPA, and others
  • Review and interpret Antidumping and Countervailing Duty (ADD/CVD) cases and communicate findings clearly to clients
  • Conduct entry processing audits to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance
  • Process post-entry activities including Post Summary Corrections, Protests, Reconciliation, and audit responses
  • Advise clients on PGA requirements, IPR, ADD/CVD, FTAs, and other compliance topics
  • Serve as a liaison between CBP, PGAs, and clients on compliance matters
  • Maintain accurate records per CBP recordkeeping requirements
  • Ensure compliance with 19 CFR regulations, HTS classification, valuation, country of origin, and FTAs
  • Maintain and update internal compliance manuals, SOPs, and training materials
What You Bring
  • Valid Customs Broker License (required)
  • 5+ years of experience in customs brokerage or trade compliance
  • Comprehensive HTS classification skills across all commodities
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations
  • Experience as an entry writer with solid understanding of brokerage operations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, particularly Excel
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • High attention to detail and strong analytical/problem-solving ability
  • Strategic, proactive approach to compliance
  • Comfort working in a dynamic, evolving environment
  • Collaborative, cross-functional mindset with the ability to work independently
  • Cargo Wise experience a plus
