Introduction: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Purchasing Manager to join our dynamic team at a leading machine shop. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the procurement of metal parts and managing a buyer who reports directly to them. This role is crucial in ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of high-quality materials to support our production processes.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute purchasing strategies for metal parts
• Evaluate and select suppliers based on quality, cost, and reliability
• Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers
• Manage and mentor a buyer, providing guidance and support
• Monitor inventory levels and ensure timely replenishment of materials
• Collaborate with production and engineering teams to meet material requirements
• Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier performance

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in purchasing, preferably in a manufacturing environment
• Strong negotiation and contract management skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to analyze data and make informed purchasing decisions
• Knowledge of metal parts and machining processes is a plus

Specific Skills: Experience with ERP systems, knowledge of ISO standards

Compensation Range: $100-120K
