Tramont is seeking an experienced Supply Chain Manager to lead planning and procurement of raw materials and supplies for manufacturing operations. This role owns supplier sourcing, pricing and delivery negotiations, demand planning, MRP, inventory, cost, and purchasing-team leadership.

The role keeps production supplied with the right materials, at the right cost, and on schedule. The ideal candidate combines hands‑on industrial purchasing, demand planning, ERP/MRP skills, and team leadership.

• Demand Planning, Sourcing & Procurement:
  Own MRP and demand planning; translate the production schedule and forecast into material requirements and purchasing actions.
• Lead procurement of steel, metal and other raw materials, mechanical and electrical components, and fabrication and assembly supplies.
• Issue purchase orders and negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules with mills, service centers, and distributors.
• Monitor steel and commodity market trends, mill lead times, and pricing indices to time purchases and protect margins.
• Manage material specifications, mill test reports, certifications, and quality documentation.
• Supplier & Vendor Management:
  Develop and maintain a qualified supplier base; evaluate, onboard, and approve vendors.
• Conduct supplier performance reviews for quality, delivery, cost, and responsiveness; drive corrective action when needed.
• Negotiate and manage supply agreements, blanket orders, and long‑term contracts.
• Cost, Inventory & Planning:
  Partner with planning and estimating to align material purchases with schedules and job requirements.
• Manage inventory levels, reorder points, and safety stock to balance material availability against carrying cost.
• Identify cost savings, value‑analysis, and alternate‑sourcing opportunities; track purchasing KPIs.
• ERP & Systems:
  Own purchasing data and workflows in ERP/MRP, including requisitions, purchase orders, item master, pricing, lead times, and MRP signals.
• Ensure data accuracy and use reporting to guide sourcing and inventory decisions.
• Team Leadership:
  Supervise, coach, and develop the purchasing and buyer team; set goals, assign work, and manage performance.
• Establish, document, and improve purchasing procedures, controls, and best practices.
• Cross‑Functional & Compliance:
  Collaborate with production, engineering, quality, estimating, and finance; ensure procurement complies with company policies, quality standards, and regulations.

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field — or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years of purchasing/procurement experience in manufacturing, including direct steel or metal raw‑material buying.
• Prior team management or supervisory experience.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, communication, Microsoft Excel, and Office‑suite skills.

• Experience buying steel plate, sheet, coil, structural, bar, tube, welding consumables, and gases.
• Experience in custom, make‑to‑order, or project‑based fabrication.
• APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM or CSCP) or equivalent; ISO 9001 experience preferred.
