Summary

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of maintenance operations at the Echo Lake Foods facility. This role ensures equipment reliability, safety compliance, and maintenance effectiveness to support production goals. The Maintenance Manager will lead a team of maintenance technicians and work collaboratively with operations, engineering, and safety teams to drive performance, minimize downtime, and implement preventative maintenance programs.

Functions
  • Lead, coach, and manage the maintenance team, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluation.
  • Develop and oversee preventive and predictive maintenance programs to ensure high equipment uptime and efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, and utility issues across production lines and facility infrastructure.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
  • Manage maintenance budgets, inventory of spare parts, and procurement of tools and supplies.
  • Collaborate with the production and engineering teams to support capital projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to track work orders, repairs, and preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures for maintenance tasks.
  • Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring failures.
  • Ensure all contractors and vendors comply with site safety and operational standards.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position is responsible for the direction, coordination, and evaluation of the maintenance team across all shifts. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Work Environment

The work environment is a professional office environment that uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. The employee works independently and collaboratively, with frequent verbal and face‑to‑face contact. Noise levels are usually moderate.

Sensory and Physical Demands

The role is primarily sedentary but requires standing, walking, hand use, reaching, and occasional lifting of objects up to 20 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

Intellectual Demands

The position requires reading, writing, and interpreting a variety of instructions, working under time constraints, and applying decision‑making and problem‑solving skills. The employee must communicate effectively, articulate ideas, respond to inquiries, handle conflict, perform basic mathematics, and make decisions based on organizational goals.

Expected Hours of Work

Full‑time. Days and hours vary by operational need, Monday through Sunday. Availability required during scheduled shifts, with possible evenings and weekends. No travel is required.

Required

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, industrial technology, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • 5+ years progressive maintenance experience in food manufacturing or a similar regulated environment.
  • 3+ years supervisory or management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and refrigeration systems.
  • Experience with CMMS systems (e.g., SAP, MP2, or similar).
  • Working knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, OSHA, and EPA standards.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, drive process improvements, and manage projects.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
