The schedule for this role will be a 2-2-3 rotation, 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

About This Role

As a Facilities Technician II, your primary duties will be to operate, repair chill water cooled GMP and non‑GMP air handlers. Ability to troubleshoot motor control, perform bearing replacement and alignment, and valve replacement. Knowledge and understanding of steam, HHW and chilled water operational equipment, i.e. steam traps, check valves, control valves.

In this role, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of chilled water‑cooled air handling units (AHUs), including both GMP and non‑GMP systems, as well as associated ventilation and exhaust systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot chilled water‑cooled AHUs, exhaust fans, and related HVAC components.
  • Troubleshoot air handler controls connected to Motor Control Centers (MCCs) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical issues, including the replacement of motors, bearings, and control valves.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance tasks such as filter and belt replacements, and AHU cleaning.
  • Ensure proper functioning of steam, hot heating water (HHW), and chilled water systems, including steam traps, check valves, and control valves.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of steam, hot heating water (HHW), and chilled water operational equipment, including steam traps, check valves, and control valves.
  • Maintain compliance with safety and operational standards in both GMP and non‑GMP environments.
Additional Duties
  • Operate all utility systems that supply manufacturing. Train others as needed in the operation and maintenance of utility systems and serve as system expert.
  • Maintain utility systems and respond to critical alarms. Log readings on various plant equipment systems and investigate when alarms occur.
  • Monitor utility systems through the BMS control systems.
  • Conduct tours through the mechanical spaces to ensure no adverse events have occurred.
  • Alarm response for all associated GMP areas and controlled spaces.

You are a problem solver and team player that is eager to learn new technical equipment and processes. You are an expert in HVAC systems. This position will provide you the opportunity to collaborate with a broader engineering and maintenance group to support manufacturing and essentially to make a difference in patient lives.

Qualifications

This work requires occasionally climbing ladders, crawling into tight spaces, moving/lifting test equipment up to 50 lbs. as well as working in clean spaces where gowning is required. Ability to stand for up to 3 hours at a time is also required.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with 2+ years prior industry experience OR 2 years trade school plus experience OR commensurate military experience.
  • Position requires knowledge and usage of hand and power tools to perform assignments.
Preferred Skills
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), organization and time management skills.
  • Experience working with HVAC in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical specification drawings and other technical data sheets.
  • Basic computer skills. (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Proficient with lock‑out tag‑out safety procedures and energized system work practices.
  • Able to follow written and oral instructions for complex tasks.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, night shifts, extended shifts, and/or weekends.
  • Practical knowledge of GMP’s.
  • Prior experience as a utility operator in a complex pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
