Floor Technician

The Floor Technician will maintain, clean, and sanitize all floors, ensuring they are visually appealing and meet UG2 standards. Working as a Floor Technician will mean you're responsible for keeping high standards of cleanliness and safety as well as operating cleaning equipment and organizing and maintaining supplies and equipment.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities

• Perform floor care and cleaning such as sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing throughout the DMU campus and facilities.

• Remove and transport waste to proper disposal areas.

• Keep accurate information on floor care logs and checklists.

• Able to keep inventory of equipment and supplies.

• Aid in the on-the-job training of new staff.

• Ability to Run, walk-behind scrubbers, walk-behind extractors, and swing buffers.

• Able to steam clean upholstery

• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.

• Report any notable damages and concerns.

• Adhere to workplace safety standards.

• Use of PPE is required in accordance with the job task.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Custodial or related experience preferred.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office preferred.

• Previous experience stripping and finishing a variety of floors including Terrazzo and VCT preferred.
