We are seeking a Quality Inspection Technician to perform inspection of large and mid-sized gears and related machined components, including parts weighing up to 6,000 lbs. This role is responsible for ensuring components meet engineering drawings, specifications, and tight tolerance requirements using a variety of precision measuring tools.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and experienced working in a manufacturing or machining environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect large and mid-sized gears and machined components for dimensional accuracy, form, and finish
- Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections per engineering drawings and quality requirements
- Use precision measuring tools including hand tools, bore gauges, micrometers, calipers, indicators, and height gauges
- Verify compliance with tight tolerances and geometric requirements
- Accurately document inspection results and complete inspection reports
- Identify and report nonconformances and out-of-tolerance conditions
- Safely handle and inspect heavy components using cranes, hoists, and rigging equipment as required
- Follow all safety, quality, and shop procedures
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical training or certification preferred)
- 3+ years of experience in quality inspection, machining, or manufacturing environments
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
- Hands-on experience with bore gauges and precision hand measurement tools
- Experience inspecting parts with tight tolerances
- Comfortable working around large, heavy components (up to 6,000 lbs)
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
Preferred Experience
- Experience inspecting gears or rotating mechanical components
- Familiarity with gear inspection standards and methods
- Experience with CMM or other advanced inspection equipment
