Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Industrial Maintenance
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance on bakery production equipment, facility systems, and supporting infrastructure. This role ensures all bakery machinery and equipment operate safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime to support daily production needs.
Essential Functions:
- Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of bakery production equipment such as mixers, ovens, proofers, conveyors, slicers, icing machines, and packaging systems.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to identify and resolve potential equipment issues before they impact production.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic problems and complete necessary repairs.
- Assist with equipment setups, adjustments, and changeovers to support production schedules.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed.
- Perform basic facility maintenance, including minor electrical, plumbing, and structural repairs.
- Ensure tools, parts, and maintenance supplies are organized and available for daily operations.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and prioritize repairs to minimize downtime.
- Follow all safety policies, GMPs, and SQF procedures.
- Collaborate with production staff to ensure equipment is operating correctly and efficiently.
- Recommend improvements to enhance reliability, performance, and safety of bakery equipment.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Working knowledge of bakery or food manufacturing equipment preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and equipment manuals.
- Understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, and control systems.
- Basic computer literacy for maintenance documentation.
- Excellent problem-solving and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience operating forklifts or material-handling equipment a plus.
This position operates in a bakery manufacturing environment where employees are regularly exposed to varying temperatures (10º–100º), moving mechanical parts, and moderate noise levels.
Physical Demands:
The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift for extended periods. Must be able to lift and move up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally with or without assistance.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
