Quality Supervisor in Sheet Metal Manufacturing

Job Description

We are looking for Quality Supervisor in our Sheet Metal Manufacturing for overseeing the inspection processes and quality management systems (QMS) to ensure fabricated parts meet rigorous dimensional and aesthetic standards. They lead a team of inspectors and collaborate with production to resolve non-conformances in high-precision environments like aerospace, automotive, or medical device manufacturing.

• Inspection Leadership:
  Supervise daily activities for incoming, in-process, and final inspections to verify conformity to customer blueprints and design specifications.
• Compliance Management:
  Maintain and audit quality systems such as ISO 9001 (general manufacturing) or AS9100 (aerospace and defense).
• First Article Inspection (FAI):
  Oversee the First Article / First Piece inspection process to validate new production setups before mass fabrication begins.
• Root Cause Analysis (RCA):
  Investigate defects and quality issues to implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) and minimize scrap.
• Equipment Calibration:
  Manage the calibration program for precision instruments, including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and CMMs.
• Metric Tracking:
  Monitor and report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as defect rates, rework costs, and scrap percentages to senior management.

• Technical Proficiency:
  Mastery of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and the ability to interpret complex technical blueprints and CAD drawings.
• Education:
  
  A Technical Degree (Associate or BS) is preferred, though 5+ years of relevant experience is often an acceptable alternative.
• Experience:
  
  Typically requires 3–5 years in a quality management role specifically within metal fabrication or welding environments.
• Certifications:
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE):
    Validates expertise in quality principles and statistical methods.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt:
    Essential for leading process improvement and waste reduction.
  • ISO/AS Internal Auditor:
    Demonstrates proficiency in maintaining certification standards.

The role is highly active, with supervisors spending up to 70% of their time on the non-climate-controlled production floor. They must be comfortable with noise, machinery, and physical activity, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
