Position: Punch Press Operator I - 2nd Shift

Overview

Cadrex is searching for a Punch Press Operator I to produce precision metal parts using a CNC punch press on the 2nd shift. The role requires operation, monitoring, maintenance, and quality inspection of the machine.

Key Responsibilities
  • Measure completed work to verify conformance to specifications using micrometers, gauges, calipers, templates, and/or rulers.
  • Examine completed work for defects (e.g., chipped edges or marred surfaces) and sort defective pieces by type of flaw.
  • Read work orders/production schedules to determine specifications, material use, cutting line locations, and dimensions/tolerances.
  • Load work into the machine.
  • Set up and start the machine, monitor operations, and record operational data.
  • Test and adjust machine speeds or actions according to product specifications using gauges and hand tools.
  • Install, align, and lock specified punches, dies, cutting blades, or other fixtures in the machine’s rams or beds, using gauges, templates, feelers, shims, and hand tools.
  • Clean and lubricate machines.
  • Position, align, and secure work against fixtures or stops on machine beds or on dies.
  • Perform periodic quality checks on output.
  • Set up and run typical machine shop operations; de-burr.
  • Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to management or designer.
  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition and follow prescribed safety procedures.
  • Perform quality inspection/checks per quality documentation/control plan and document results.
  • Uphold site efficiency standards.
  • Learn and demonstrate continuous improvement for site safety and quality standards and procedures.
  • Meet the standards of the site attendance policy.
  • Assist in other work areas as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Write simple correspondence.
  • Perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Read and interpret prints and work orders.
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
