Production Manager
Position Overview
Production Supervisor reports to shift managers, overseeing production and sanitation activities, supervising team leaders and operators, and ensuring compliance with safety, food safety, quality, GMP, SQF, and USDA regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities- Manage all production activities and shift personnel to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Conduct daily meetings at the start of each shift to discuss performance metrics and convey pertinent production information.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with Salm Partners and USDA sanitation and food safety requirements.
- Serve as an active member of the Safety Committee.
- Manage staffing, scheduling, absenteeism, time‑card approval, and partner needs.
- Maintain production records and report shift results daily.
- Collaborate with support teams and other departments to optimize production and engagement.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Exemplary communication skills and a passion for teaching and developing people.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities in a deadline‑intensive environment.
- Strong leadership skills, work ethic, and integrity.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities including training, planning, task assignment, performance appraisal, reward and discipline, and addressing and resolving problems.
- Experience in supervisory or leadership roles, preferably in a USDA‑regulated food manufacturing environment.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Business or related field preferred.
- Prior supervisory or leadership experience required.
- Experience in a USDA‑regulated food manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
- Interpersonal, verbal, and written communication.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules and procedure manuals.
- Basic computer proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with Sage or ERP systems preferred.
- Strong math skills, including percentages and data interpretation.
- Problem‑solving skills and experience with root‑cause analysis.
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and caustic chemicals.
- Temperature ranging from 35 F to 100 F; wet, slippery, and noisy environment.
- PPE required: gloves, goggles, rain suits, rubber boots as needed.
- Physical demands: regularly sit, stand, walk, talk, hear; occasional fine manipulation and lifting/moving up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities: close vision, color vision, depth perception.
