Position Title: Inventory Control
Wage: $21/hour
Shift: 1st
Hours: 7:00am-3:30pm
QPS Employment Group is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Inventory Control Technician to join a company in Milwaukee, WI. This role is essential in ensuring the accurate tracking and management of parts, materials, and equipment used in the manufacturing and repair of rail vehicles. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in inventory management, excellent organizational skills, and an understanding of warehouse operations.
This is an associate to hire opportunity.
- Monitor and control the inventory of materials, spare parts, and components required for production and maintenance activities
- Ensure that adequate stock levels are maintained to meet production schedules without overstocking or running low on critical items
- Oversee the receiving, inspecting, and storing of incoming materials, ensuring all items meet quality standards and match order specifications
- Conduct regular inventory audits to ensure accuracy and integrity of the stock, reconcile discrepancies between physical stock and system records
- Maintain accurate records of inventory transactions, movements, and usage using warehouse management systems (WMS), SAP, or other ERP software
- Perform daily, weekly, or monthly cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy
- Prepare and kit materials based on work orders or production schedules
- Work closely with suppliers, purchasing, and production teams to ensure timely delivery and receipt of inventory items
- Ensure proper storage of materials, including labeling, shelving, and maintaining an organized and clean warehouse environment
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations for inventory management, including handling hazardous materials where applicable
- Identify opportunities for process improvements in inventory control procedures to optimize efficiency and reduce errors
- Use SAP for inventory transactions, material tracking, reporting, and reconciliation of stock discrepancies
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field is a plus)
- 2+ years of experience in inventory control or warehouse management, preferably in a manufacturing or rail industry
- Proficiency with inventory management software (ERP/WMS), SAP experience required, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word); familiarity with barcode scanning systems
- Strong organizational and analytical skills with a high degree of accuracy in inventory tracking
- Ability to identify issues, analyze data, and suggest corrective actions to resolve inventory discrepancies
- Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds and work in a warehouse environment
