Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Automation & Mechatronics Engineer
The Advanced Automation Technician/Facilities at Beckman Coulter Diagnostics will support the operation, maintenance, and optimization of manufacturing and production equipment, ensuring efficient and reliable plant performance. The role reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and is part of the Reagents Manufacturing Team located in Hebron, KY (on‑site).
Responsibilities- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair highly automated production equipment to restore operation and minimize downtime.
- Perform root‑cause analysis and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, PLC/HMI, motion control, robotics, and vision system issues to ensure stable automation.
- Identify and resolve material and product manufacturing issues by analyzing process conditions, equipment performance, and material interactions.
- Support installation, commissioning, and qualification of new and upgraded automated equipment.
- Maintain technical documentation (SOPs, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair procedures) and collaborate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to improve equipment reliability.
- High school diploma or GED with 6+ years of experience supporting automated manufacturing equipment.
- Associate degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or a related field with 3+ years of related experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or a related field with 1+ year of related experience.
- Strong technical aptitude across electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and material‑related systems in automated environments, with working knowledge of electrical and machine safety standards, including LOTO and NFPA 70E.
- Hands‑on experience with robotics, vision systems, and PLC/HMI platforms (especially Rockwell), including the ability to interpret electrical and pneumatic schematics.
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills for troubleshooting equipment issues and performing repairs.
- Electrical certification (preferred).
- Regulated industry experience (preferred).
