CNC Machining Cell Lead — Makino & MMC Systems

As the CNC Machining Cell Lead on second shift, you’ll start by checking the status of Makino machining centers and the MMC pallet pool, aligning priorities, and coaching operators on the floor. Through the shift you’ll split time between the controls and the aisle—running equipment when needed, mentoring teammates, troubleshooting tooling and machining issues, collaborating with maintenance and engineering, and verifying output and quality.

You’ll keep SAP transactions current, coordinate tooling upkeep, and step in as the backup to the Machine Shop Supervisor when required.

• Guide daily machine shop operations on 2nd shift
• Operate and support Makino machining centers and MMC pallet pool systems
• Be the on-floor technical resource for machine operators
• Onboard, train, and mentor new operators
• Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and production challenges
• Partner with maintenance, engineering, and the tool room to resolve issues
• Monitor tooling stock; coordinate replacement, repair, and maintenance
• Conduct in-process quality checks and verify production output
• Move materials as needed and record transactions in SAP
• Contribute to continuous improvement and efficiency initiatives
• Act as backup to the Machine Shop Supervisor

• 5+ years in a machine shop
• Background in CNC machining environments
• Experience training or mentoring operators
• Strong blueprint/print reading capability
• History of cross‑functional work with engineering, maintenance, and tooling teams
• Familiarity with SAP or a comparable ERP
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills

• Team Lead or Supervisor background
• Makino machining center experience
• MMC (pallet pool) system experience
• Lean Manufacturing / Continuous Improvement exposure
• G‑Code programming exposure
• Journeyman Machinist or technical certifications
