Duties
  • Develop, write, and optimize CNC programs for lathe machines using CAD (Computer-Aided Design) and CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software such as Solid Works, CATIA, or AutoCAD.
  • Set up CNC lathes by selecting appropriate tooling, fixtures, and ensuring proper calibration aligned with blueprint specifications.
  • Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) to ensure precise machining of parts.
  • Operate CNC lathe machines efficiently while adhering to safety standards and quality control procedures.
  • Utilize precision measuring instruments like bore gauges, calipers, micrometers, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) to verify dimensions and tolerances.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues related to tooling, geometry, or machine settings; perform adjustments to optimize performance.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of programs, setups, inspections, and process improvements following lean manufacturing principles.
Experience
  • Proven experience programming and operating CNC lathes in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Fanuc controls or similar CNC systems; familiarity with CNC milling machines is a plus.
  • Skilled in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings with an understanding of GD&T standards.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software such as Solid Works, AutoCAD, or CATIA for designing and programming parts.
  • Mechanical knowledge of tooling setups, electrical discharge machining (EDM), and precision measurement instruments.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing practices to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
