Grinding Operator

Description

Capable of performing all tasks and duties associated with manual and honing (superfinishing) machines and processes. This includes machine set up, operation, and maintenance.

• Measuring and dimensioning with highly accurate instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gages, depth gages, etc.
• Proper machine set up, selection, and use of grinding wheels.
• Accurate removal of excess coating within specified tolerances minimizing taper, chatter, or defects.
• When required, hone product per procedure to required finish.
• Accurately inspect product to determine if process is complete.
• Complete part router paperwork, and move part to next department.
• Daily, routine, and preventive maintenance of all tools and equipment.
• Document all NCMR issues and inform the quality department.
• Follow all safety rules and policies as outlined in the Safety Manual.
• Regularly complete all housekeeping tasks in work area.
• Any other duties or responsibilities determined by the manager.

• Strong basic mathematics skills and ability to understand dimensionality.
• Good oral communication skills.
• Experience with overhead and jib crane preferred.
• Experience in driving gas or electric forklifts is preferred.

Willing to work overtime when requested by management.
