THE ROLE
We are seeking 1st shift Operators for Temp to Hire to join our team and help drive our continued success. This role plays an important part in supporting our customers, strengthening our business, and contributing to the long-term growth of Douglas Dynamics.
HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTEOperator performs a variety of machine operations, material handling, quality checks, light assembly, and general maintenance in the Fabrication department. Operators will communicate with their team lead regarding safety, quality, and delivery opportunities daily. Periodically work overtime and/or alternate shifts to meet the production demands. Operators will be expected to maintain safety, quality, and delivery at or above the expected level, actively participate in team activities, training, the company’s 5‑S activities and follow Douglas Dynamics rules regarding work and conduct.
In this role, you will leverage your skills, experience, and perspective to make a meaningful impact. You’ll collaborate with teammates across the organization, contribute ideas, and help deliver results that matter for our customers and our business.
HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE- Operate assigned equipment, identify and correct problems as they occur.
- Run test cycles and do quality audits to maintain accuracy and quality.
- Maintain safety, quality, and through put as required.
- Perform timely upkeep of equipment and programs.
- Communicate with other departments/shifts daily.
- Keep work area, tools, material, and equipment clean and orderly.
- Work in a safe manner and report unsafe conditions as required.
- Track use of consumables and record production data daily.
- Willingness to operate all equipment in the Fab business unit after completing equipment training.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
:
- Ability to read and understand blueprints/specifications
- Ability to stand, walk, reach above shoulders and outward, bend, squat, crawl
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
Desired
Skills:
- Ability to read and understand calipers, micrometer, and protractors
- Ability to setup and operate fabrication equipment
- Prior experience in metal fabrication
