CNC Machinist
This role focuses on operating and setting up CNC mills and lathes to machine industrial bearings in a high-mix, low-volume environment. You will edit G- and M-code, perform precision quality inspections, and interpret blueprints to ensure parts meet exact specifications.
Responsibilities- Operate CNC mills and lathes to machine industrial bearings according to specifications and production schedules.
- Set up CNC machines, including tooling, fixturing, offsets, and program loading, to support high-mix, low-volume production.
- Edit and adjust G- and M-code at the machine to optimize performance and ensure accurate part production.
- Read and interpret engineering blueprints and technical drawings to determine machining requirements and tolerances.
- Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers to perform in-process and final quality inspections.
- Monitor machine operations, identify issues, and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency.
- Work with multi-axis CNC equipment when needed to produce complex components (multi-axis experience is a strong plus).
- Handle setups and changeovers efficiently to support a wide variety of parts and small batch runs.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in a climate-controlled machine shop environment.
- Follow all safety procedures and shop standards while working with CNC equipment and related tools.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to support continuous improvement and training initiatives.
- At least 4 years of hands‑on CNC machining experience.
- Proven experience with CNC setup on mills and lathes.
- Strong blueprint reading skills and ability to interpret engineering drawings.
- Proficiency using precision measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers.
- Ability to edit and adjust G- and M-code at the CNC control.
- Experience working in a high‑mix, low‑volume machining environment.
- Solid understanding of machining practices, tolerances, and quality standards.
- Comfort operating and setting up CNC machines from brands such as Mitisui Seki, Toshiba, Mazak, Mori‑seki, and Intergex or similar.
Skills & Qualifications
- Multi‑axis CNC machining experience is a significant plus.
- Experience programming CNC machines beyond basic code edits is highly beneficial.
- Familiarity with both lathe and mill operations and setups.
- Ability to adapt quickly to different part numbers and setups in a high‑mix environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high‑quality parts.
- Willingness to participate in ongoing training and skill development plans.

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $34.00/hr.

Permanent position based out of Milwaukee, WI.
Workplace TypeFully onsite position in Milwaukee, WI.
Work EnvironmentBased in a climate‑controlled machine shop with modern CNC equipment. Standard shifts include 1st shift 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and 3rd shift 11:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m., with a 10% premium for 3rd shift. Shifts are 8 hours with potential for shift‑time flexibility after performance expectations are met. Facility has cafeteria with on‑site food.
