The Extrusion Operator sets up, operates, and monitors extrusion equipment to produce PVC components and parts used in residential construction. This role focuses on safe and efficient machine operation, basic mechanical troubleshooting, and routine preventive maintenance to ensure consistent product quality and reliable production performance.
Responsibilities- Operate extrusion machines to produce PVCs and parts for houses according to production specifications and quality standards.
- Set up extrusion equipment, including adjusting settings, tooling, and materials to meet required product dimensions and performance.
- Monitor machine performance during production runs and make necessary adjustments to maintain optimal output and quality.
- Use mechanical knowledge and hand/power tools to perform routine adjustments, repairs, and component replacements on extrusion equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks on extrusion machinery, including inspection, cleaning, lubrication, and minor part replacement.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and plumbing issues on production equipment to minimize downtime.
- Identify and resolve basic PLC-related issues by performing PLC troubleshooting to support continuous machine operation.
- Assist with programming changes or adjustments on equipment controls as needed to support new products or process improvements.
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working with machinery, tools, and materials in a warmer production environment.
- Document production activities, maintenance actions, and any equipment issues in accordance with company processes.
- Collaborate with team members and leadership to support internal growth initiatives and the integration of new equipment into the production line.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to support safe, efficient, and high-quality production.
- Proven experience operating extrusion or similar production machinery in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to work confidently with hand and power tools.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical systems, including hydraulics and pneumatics, in a production or industrial setting.
- Demonstrated ability to perform preventive maintenance on manufacturing equipment.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair basic mechanical, plumbing, and equipment issues.
- Experience with PLC troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve control-related machine problems.
- Basic programming or equipment control adjustment experience related to production machinery.
- Ability to work safely and effectively in a warmer production environment.
- Willingness and ability to work 12-hour day or night shifts as required by production needs.

- Experience in automotive, mechanical, or related technical fields.
- Comfort working with a variety of tools and equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail when diagnosing equipment issues.

The role is based in a manufacturing facility operating 12-hour shifts, with a day shift from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and a night shift from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., with a pay premium for night work. The production area is a warmer environment due to the nature of extrusion processes and equipment. Team members work around industrial machinery, PLC-controlled systems, and newly added equipment, using hand and power tools to support operations and maintenance.

Pay and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $25.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
