Job DescriptionThe Social Media & Communications Coordinator plays a key role in advancing Community Advocates’ mission by supporting the development and execution of responsive, engaging, and timely communications. This position works closely with the Grants and Communications Director and Chief Advancement Officer to maintain and grow the organization’s visibility and digital presence across Community Advocates (CA), the Milwaukee Women’s Center (MWC), and the Public Policy Institute (PPI).
This role is responsible for managing social media platforms, supporting content creation across multiple channels, and ensuring consistent messaging aligned with the organization’s brand and communications calendar and strategy. The ideal candidate is creative, detail-oriented, and passionate about storytelling and community impact.
Content Creation & Storytelling- Capture photos, videos, and notes at internal meetings and external community events to develop compelling social media, blog, and newsletter content
- Write and produce content that highlights program impact, participant stories, and organizational initiatives
- Ensure content is culturally informed, strengths-based, and aligned with organizational values
- Develop, schedule, and publish content across multiple platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Linked In, You Tube)
- Create engaging posts that increase audience growth, interaction, and engagement based on audience
- Monitor social media channels, respond to comments/messages as appropriate, and track trends
- Design and develop project- and event-specific materials such as flyers, registration forms, impact reports, and digital promotions
- Maintain consistency with organizational brand guidelines across all materials
- Collaborate with program staff to translate complex information into accessible, audience-friendly messaging
- Support the production of e-newsletters, including writing, editing, formatting, and distribution
- Update and maintain multiple organizational websites (CA, MWC, PPI) in collaboration with the Grants and Communications Director
- Ensure website content is current, accurate, and engaging
- Attend community events and outreach opportunities to represent the organization and gather content
- Develop and distribute materials that promote CA, MWC, and PPI programs and initiatives
- Support efforts to expand visibility and strengthen community awareness
- Maintain and implement a communications calendar to coordinate campaigns, events, and content across platforms
- Ensure timely and strategic alignment of messaging across departments and initiatives per agency brand guide.
- Track, analyze, and report on social media performance, audience demographics, and engagement metrics
- Use data insights to refine content strategy and improve reach and impact
- Support fundraising efforts through communications, including donor appeals, grant support materials, and event promotion
