Shift Details: Friday and Saturday night shift (19-0730) weekend program. Holidays:

Job Summary: The Critical Care Technician (CCT), under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse, provides delegated age-appropriate care in a culturally and ethnically sensitive manner in the Critical Care Units. The CCT assists patients with the tasks outlined in their clinical competency assessment related to basic nursing skills, personal care skills, basic restorative services, and necessary critical care skills.

The CCT practices and performs what was taught during their CNA training and certification or learned during basic nursing courses at an accredited school for professional nurses. The CCT may be asked to provide continuous safety observation. This job reports to the Nurse Manager/Assistant Nurse Manager of the assigned Critical Care Unit and the RNs on duty on each assigned shift.

Other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities
  • Provide delegated age-appropriate care in the Critical Care Units under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
  • Assist patients with basic nursing skills, personal care, basic restorative services, and necessary critical care skills as outlined in their competency assessment.
  • Apply training from CNA certification or basic nursing courses to daily practice.
  • Provide continuous safety observation as required.
  • Report to the Nurse Manager/Assistant Nurse Manager and the RNs on duty for each shift.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Training
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Training: Completion of the Critical Care Tech course or equivalent within 6 months of date of hire is required.
Licensure & Certifications
  • Licensure: State of Wisconsin Nursing Assistant Certification is required, otherwise must be currently enrolled in a nursing program with documentation of successful completion of the basic nursing course and one acute care medical/surgical clinical rotation.
  • BLS: American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider or an AHA approved equivalent is required within 90 days of hire.
