About the Role

Hallmark Ascension – Columbia St. Mary’s is seeking experienced Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurses to support high-acuity telemetry and step-down patients. This role involves delivering comprehensive patient care, utilizing strong clinical judgment, and coordinating with interdisciplinary teams. PCU nurses manage complex medical conditions, cardiac monitoring, and rapid changes in patient status while maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care on a progressive care/step-down unit
  • Perform focused assessments and identify physiologic and psychosocial changes
  • Analyze and interpret clinical data to support nursing diagnoses and care plans
  • Document care plans, interventions, and patient responses
  • Prioritize and perform interventions based on patient needs and hospital standards
  • Provide patient and family education
  • Revise care plans based on evaluation and changes in condition
  • Maintain a safe environment and monitor equipment effectiveness
  • Use clinical judgment to support patient care needs across assigned units
Shift Options

Night Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM

Schedules may include 48 hours per week, with every other weekend and every other holiday required.

Minimum Requirements
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Wisconsin
  • Minimum 2 years of PCU, Med-Surg Telemetry, or Acute Care experience
  • Current CPR certification
  • Must meet all federal, state, and local employment requirements
  • Additional requirements:

    TB screening, health certificate, onboarding compliance
  • Strong communication skills and computer proficiency
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
Compensation Packages

Local PCU RN Pay Rate: $39/hr Estimated Weekly Pay: $1872

Travel PCU RN – 48 hrs Hourly Pay: $25/hr Meals: $560 Housing: $980 Estimated Weekly Pay: $2740
