* Job Summary:
** Reporting to the Patient Care Manager or Director, the Clinician functions with demonstrated expertise in the delivery of direct nursing care to children and their families. With advanced knowledge and skill, also provides nursing care to children within a defined patient population. As a recognized resource for consultation to the primary nurse, the clinician assists in establishing and maintaining a quality standard of nursing care for a defined pediatric population which is either a high risk or high volume population at CW.
Essential Functions - Provides direct nursing care at the level of a Pediatric Nurse (or within defined specialty if applicable). - Utilizes the five step nursing process when consulting with other nurses or when providing care to patients. - Acts as a patient/family advocate for a defined patient population. - Contributes to the identification of nursing diagnosis, interventions, and expected outcomes specific to the defined patient population.
- Assists in the discharge planning/home care coordination for patients/families within the defined patient population. - Collaborates with the primary nurse to identify and provide for the learning needs of patients/families within the area of clinical competence. - Assists in the development and validation of nursing care standards for a defined patient population. - Assists in the identification of staff educational needs in the area of identified clinical competence.
- Collaborates with management and educational staff to develop and evaluate education programming to meet the needs of staff. - Works with an Advanced Practice Nurse or Education Specialist to develop staff and patient/family educational material Legacy Essential Functions - Participates in and supports quality monitoring and improvement. - Assists in the development, implementation and evaluation of unit/clinic operations, patient care policies, procedures, products, and programs related to defined patient population.
- Acts as a consultant to other health care providers within area of expertise. - Identifies potential topics for clinical evaluation and/or research with the area of clinical competence. - Communicates and collaborates with all members of the health care team. - Assures responsibility for cost containment measures. - Identifies areas of intrapersonal and interpersonal conflict and acts toward resolution of the conflict.
- Formulates and pursues individual professional goals. - Acts as a professional role model in all aspects of performance.
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree Broad based knowledge of nursing practices normally acquired through completion of a Bachelors degree in Nursing required
