Surgical Assistant
Job Description:
Work as a travel Registered Nurse in the Surgery Room at a main operating room in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This 8-hour evening assignment focuses on OR cases with a strong Neuro/ENT emphasis, including neuro spine procedures such as laminectomies, ALIFs, fusions, and discectomies, along with common cranial cases like tumors, AVMs/aneurysms (not required), VP shunts, subdural work, and EVDs. ENT specialties you may encounter include neck dissections with flaps, sinus surgery using Stealth navigation, basic ENT (tonsils), tympanoplasty, and cochlear work (not required).
You’ll also participate across a broad OR mix such as orthopedic fractures and ortho spine, hand/podiatry equipment, and additional general surgery categories (including laparoscopic, vascular, GU, GYN, plastics/breast, and robotic cases).
The evening shift is structured for 40 hours per week, with EPIC charting and OR equipment support including Alaris, Pyxis, and Medtronic/Stealth navigation tools. A strong background in Neuro/ENT is required, and RN circulator experience with scrubbing is recommended. Expect a focused orientation period (typically 1‑1.5 weeks) and support from charge nurses, leads, supervisors, and the unit manager.
First-time travelers may require additional review by the hiring supervisor. Come ready to work with variety, navigation, and OR workflows while keeping things steady in the middle of the action—no overthinking, just clean, consistent room support.
