Position: Travel Nurse RN - OR - Operating Room - $2,520 per week

Job Summary

Travel Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) – CVOR / Cardiothoracic – Milwaukee, WI. CVOR/CVOR experience required (2+ years) in cardiac and thoracic surgery. 13‑week assignment at a Magnet Level III Trauma Center (Level III Trauma Center
• Magnet Designation
• Comprehensive Stroke Center).

    Milwaukee, WI 53215
  • Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Start: May 4, 2026 – End: August 1, 2026)
  • Shift: 10‑hour day shifts
  • Hours per Week: 40
  • Orientation: 2 weeks
  • On Call:
    Once per month (weekend 24‑hour call); end‑of‑shift call up to once/week (30‑minute response time)

Required Qualifications / CVOR Nurse Requirements
  • At least 2 years of recent CVOR experience across specialties: CABG, TAVR, valve replacements, robotic thoracic cases, generator exchanges, lead extractions, heart transplants, fem‑pop bypass
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program
  • BLS certification (required)
  • CSFA certification (preferred)
  • Strong ability to work independently in a fast‑paced perioperative environment
  • Experience with EPIC electronic charting, Alaris pumps, Pyxis medication systems, and Da Vinci XI robotic equipment
  • Not recommended for first‑time travel nurses; ideal for experienced travel OR / CVOR nurses
Operating Room / Perioperative Responsibilities
  • Circulate in complex cardiovascular and thoracic surgical cases (average ~10 cases/day)
  • Maintain 1:1 patient ratios during procedures and ensure perioperative patient safety
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary surgical team including department supervisors, anesthesia providers, and surgical assistant leads
  • Document pain levels before and after medication administration and ensure compliance with medication orders and facility protocols
  • Adhere to facility fatigue policy (no more than 60 hours/week or 5 consecutive 12‑hour shifts)
  • Participate in scheduled weekend and holiday on‑call rotations
  • Engage in a supportive environment with access to 24/7 anesthesia coverage and house supervisor support
