Flight Registered Nurse Site Lead, Milwaukee, WI

Vighter is recruiting experienced Flight Registered Nurses (RN) to join our team as Site Leads, leading teams of registered nurses at each airport hub and providing exceptional patient care and accountability. Site Leads typically have demonstrated proficiency and availability with previous service as a full‑time Flight Registered Nurse.

Flight Registered Nurses (RN) conduct basic screening assessments and provide healthcare services to individuals detained by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) teams during deportation flights from Milwaukee, WI. Site leads at each hub focus on scheduling, accountability, discipline, training, flight execution, treatment documentation and leadership for registered nurses. Vighter’s Flight nurses work alongside uniformed DHS and ICE at numerous locations in Texas, Arizona, Florida, Ohio, Wisconsin and Louisiana.

Candidates must be comfortable working in detention and flight settings.

Principle Accountabilities
  • Assumes responsibility as the sole medical provider of care for Federal detainees with stable, unstable, and complex medical conditions.
  • Independently develops and implements a comprehensive plan to meet the actual and anticipated medical needs of detainee (client) and aircraft crew.
  • Anticipates and acquires resources needed for routine and unexpected medical incidents, including medical emergencies in flight.
  • Responsible for performing a variety of complex tasks without the benefit of close guidance.
  • Independently establishes criteria, formulates approaches, and evaluates efforts.
  • Proper judgment is required to prevent delays in service provision, avoid adverse impact on the health status of individuals and the population served, and reduce waste efforts and resources.
  • Review patient information while ensuring compliance with established protocols for the transportation of detainees by air.
  • Provide oversight to registered nurses during flight operations.
  • Provide complex and comprehensive nursing care for adult and children medical patients.
  • Verbal and written proficiency in English and Spanish is highly encouraged.
  • Functional proficiency and ability to document patient‑centered health care in the required electronic health record or electronic medical record, in the required format (narrative notes), in a timely manner, and in compliance with contract policy and guidance.

  • Knowledge of regulations (HIPAA/Privacy Act) regarding the confidentiality of patient medical records and information as well as Personally Identifiable Information (PII).

Knowledge and Skills
  • Must have exceptional customer service skills.
  • Employees shall be technically proficient in the skills necessary to fulfill the job requirements.
  • Flight nurses shall be proficient in the Spanish and English languages.
  • Excellent organizational, scheduling and prioritization skills.
Education
  • ASN or BSN from an accredited university is required, Registered Nurse License is required.
Qualifications
  • One (1) year of current experience as a Registered Nurse preferably with ICU or ER experience plus one (1) year of full time Flight Registered Nurse (RN) under this contract or previous nursing leadership experience.
  • Current BLS certification is required, ACLS is a preferred certification.
  • Must have exceptional customer service skills.
  • Must be verbally proficient in both English and Spanish.
