Where You Will Work26‑bed post‑op surgical unit with 16‑bed telemetry. FAST PACED post‑op surgical unit caring for patients with gastroenterology, urology, gynecology, and plastic surgery. Includes abdominal drains, wound VACS, PCA, epidurals, tube feedings, etc. 75% of patients are admitted from PACU or as step‑down from Surgical ICU.
Manages care of 4‑5 patients day/PM shift and 5‑6 patients night. Able to manage drips including insulin, ketamine, dobutamine, heparin, angiomax, etc. This unit is ideal for experienced Med‑Surg nurses wishing to advance skills and for new graduates looking to develop into advanced settings such as ICU, ED, OR, or NP.
ResponsibilitiesProvide and coordinate comprehensive patient care through the nursing process. Deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures, using evidence‑based practice, clinical decision‑making, compassion, and clear communication. Lead efforts to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience across the continuum.
Qualifications- Completion of an accredited or approved nursing program.
- Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association.
Night shift: 1900‑0730, 3–12 hour shifts per week. Holiday rotation available.
