Job Description
Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) will support plasma center operations under the guidance of the Center Manager and the Center Physician, ensuring donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and providing center‑level support for environmental, health and safety (EHS).
Responsibilities- Determine donor eligibility and manage informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self‑exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
- Evaluate donor reactions, follow SOPs for medical emergencies, develop Center Physician’s standing orders, and assist donor transport to emergency care facilities.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
- Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents and determine further evaluation required by occupational health/ER, referencing EHS guidance.
- Serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations associated with pandemic threats.
- High school diploma or equivalent, or graduate level educational nursing program with state requirements.
- Licensed or certified in the state of assignment (EMT‑Paramedic).
- Current CPR and AED certification.
- Basic IV therapy certification per state requirements.
- Completion of FDA approved training for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
U.S. hourly wage range: $25.60 – $35.20. Compensation may vary based on qualifications and experience.
