The Registered Nurse practitioner is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for a defined group of patients. The staff RN will primarily work in the Emergency Department Resource Pool and demonstrate competency in delivering care to a primarily adult population. The Staff RN‑Resource Pool float job description aligns with ANA Nursing:
Scope and Standards of Practice, 3rd Edition (2015).
A minimum of 18 months of recent emergency department nursing experience is required.
Education RequiredCompleted education at an accredited School of Nursing to be eligible for licensure as a registered nurse. Non‑BSN nurses with less than one year of licensed RN experience must enroll in a BSN (or higher) program; enrollment within 15 months of hire and completion within 5 years (or 6 years for MSN, DNP, or PhD).
Education PreferredBachelor’s Degree in Nursing is preferred.
Licensure Required- Current Wisconsin RN license or a multi‑state nursing license in the NLC.
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalent within 90 days of hire.
- AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of hire.
- AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Trauma Nurse Certification (TNCC) within one year of hire.
