Responsibilities
We are looking for a compassionate and skilled PACU nurse to join our team. As a PACU Nurse, you will play a vital role in helping our young patients wake up gently, safely and with comfort after surgery while reassuring families that they're in the very best hands. Additional responsibilities include being a partner in the care management team, providing coordination and management of patient care to pediatric patients and families within a continuum of care and delegating patient activities as appropriate within a care management assignment, functions within professional and hospital standards.
Qualifications- Two years or more of prior nursing experience.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with an ADN or a BSN in order to meet the recommended entry level for a professional nurse (or equivalent academic and/or professional experience). A BSN is preferred.
- A current license to practice professional nursing in the State of Wisconsin.
- Knowledge of the principles of neonatal, pediatric and adolescent growth and development and child/family responses to fear, illness, injury and hospitalization.
- Current CPR certification - Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers through American Heart or American Red Cross is required.
- PALS certification required within 90 days of hire.
- 10‑hour shifts.
- Must be flexible with start times varying between 7:30am‑9:30am.
- Weekend call expectations would be roughly every 5th weekend and 3 overnight weekday call shifts between 8:30pm‑7:30am, in a 6‑week period.
- One of the following: BLS‑Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (American Heart Association/American Red Cross/National Safety Council); RN licensure in Wisconsin (or relevant Compact states: FL, KS, KY, LA, NH, OK); PALS‑Pediatric Advanced Life Support (American Heart Association/American Red Cross/National Safety Council).
