Travel Surgical Tech​/ORT - CVORT

American Traveler is seeking an experienced CVOR Surgical Tech for a 13-week hospital assignment in Milwaukee, WI, requiring a strong background across cardiovascular and thoracic surgical specialties including CABG, TAVR, valve replacements, and heart transplants.

• Minimum of 2 years of CVOR surgical tech experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
• Strong CVOR background required across all specialties, with ability to work independently on CABG, TAVR, valve replacements, robotic thoracic cases, generator exchanges, lead extractions, heart transplants, and Fem-Pop bypass
• BLS certification required
• Graduation from an accredited surgical technology program required; CST preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• Experience in a fast-paced OR environment
• Active license required if applicable
• Professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN dated within the past year required for consideration
• Candidate DOB, last 4 of SSN, and middle name or initial required for consideration

• Work in an 8-bed CVOR unit at a 938-bed, Level III Trauma Center with Magnet Designation and Comprehensive Stroke Center status in Milwaukee, WI
• Patient population includes cardiovascular and thoracic surgery cases: CABG, TAVR, valve replacements, robotic thoracic cases (lobectomy, hernia repair), generator exchanges, lead extractions, heart transplants, and Fem-Pop bypass
• Averages 10 cases per day with a 1:1 patient ratio
• Travelers in this role will function as scrub tech; surgical team always includes two RNs per case (Circulator and Med RN)
• No floating required; scope is limited to CV, thoracic, and supporting interventional cases
• 8-hour day shifts, 11:00 AM-7:00 PM, Monday through Friday
• Weekend rotation is on-call only, approximately once per month (Sat/Sun, 24-hour call, )
• End-of-shift call up to once per week with a 30-minute response time requirement
• Holidays are on-call only, as needed
• Epic EMR experience required; facility also uses Alaris, Pyxis, and DaVinci XI
• 40 standard hours per week; 13-week assignment
• This position is not recommended for first-time travelers
• Former employees of Advocate Health or any of its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before being eligible
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate; no radius restrictions apply
• Two weeks of orientation provided
• Department Supervisor, Manager, and Team Lead (without case assignment) are available for support;
  House Supervisor and Anesthesia are available 24/7
• Weekend support is provided by a small weekend program staff with a shared Supervisor covering all ORs
• Surgical Assistant Lead is available to assist with instrumentation and preference cards
• Facility adheres to a fatigue policy limiting all staff, including travelers, to no more than 60 hours per week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts
• Scrubs are provided by the facility
• RTO of up to 7 days may be approved; additional time off requires separate approval
• No sleep room is available for on-call shifts
• Free parking is available on site; cafeteria and Starbucks are also available to staff
