Travel RN - Operating Room - Cardiovascular OR​/CVOR

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a CVOR position at a Level III Trauma, Magnet-designated hospital in Milwaukee, WI, requiring a strong cardiovascular and thoracic surgery background and Epic proficiency.

• Active WI or compact RN license currently in hand
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience in CVOR or a surgical specialty
• Strong CVOR background required across all specialties, with ability to work independently on CABG, TAVR, valve replacements, robotic thoracic cases, generator exchanges, lead extractions, heart transplants, and fem-pop bypass
• Epic EMR experience required
• Experience in a fast-paced surgical environment required
• Minimum 1 professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN collected within the last year
• Candidate's middle name or initial, date of birth, and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration

• Work setting is a 938-bed Level III Trauma Center with Magnet Designation and Comprehensive Stroke Center status in Milwaukee, WI
• Unit is the cardiovascular OR (CVOR) with 8 CVOR beds
• Patient population includes complex cardiac and thoracic surgical cases: CABG, TAVR, valve replacements, heart transplants, robotic thoracic cases (lobectomy, hernia repair), generator exchanges, lead extractions, and fem-pop bypass
• Averages approximately 10 cases per day
• 1:1 patient ratio; each case is staffed with two RNs (Circulator and Med RN) - travelers will serve in the circulator role only
• Shift is 8-hour days, Monday-Friday, with start times between 5:00-6:30 AM
• On-call required: one 24-hour weekend call shift per month (Saturday/Sunday, 7:00 AM-7:00 AM) and end-of-shift call up to once per week with a 30-minute response time
• No floating required - coverage limited to CV, thoracic, and interventional cases on standby
• EMR is Epic (required)
• Additional equipment includes Alaris, Pyxis, and Da Vinci XI
• This position is not recommended for first-time travelers
• Former employees of Advocate Health or any of its subsidiaries must have been separated for at least 12 months before being eligible
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate - no radius restrictions apply
• Two-week orientation provided
• Scrubs are provided by the facility
• Holiday coverage is on-call only, as needed
• Facility adheres to a fatigue policy limiting staff to no more than 60 hours per week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts
• RTO of up to 7 days may be approved; requests beyond 7 days require additional approval
• Support structure includes a Department Supervisor and Manager, a Team Lead without case assignment, 24/7 anesthesia coverage, a Surgical Assistant Lead, and a 24/7 House Supervisor
• No sleep room is available for on-call shifts
• Free parking is available on site; cafeteria and Starbucks are available for staff
