- Coordinate and manage resources needed to provide optimal nursing care, including staff, supplies, and automated patient care systems
- Manage resources through systems management and coordinate system issues to assure optimal patient care
- Maintain productivity through efficient 24-hour staffing, scheduling, and labor management
- Evaluate nursing care quality using practice standards, patient outcomes, peer review, incident reports, policies, equipment, supplies, and products
- Ensure resources are available for performance improvement initiatives
- Develop service strategies and monitor service levels against customer and patient satisfaction indicators
- Coordinate and integrate services with other areas
- Maintain relationships with patients, families, staff, medical staff, healthcare facilities, and vendors
- Act as a liaison between medical and nursing staffs
- Facilitate evidence-based nursing practice and decision-making
- Participate in shared governance councils and recommend changes in nursing practice
- Support shared governance through staff accountability, monitoring, and counseling
- Maintain compliance with The Joint Commission and other regulatory bodies
- Develop and communicate change initiatives
- Achieve care management, employee engagement, productivity, and patient loyalty targets
- Plan staffing needs and meet productivity benchmarks
- Assist with development, marketing, and revenue opportunities for new and existing services
- Perform human resources responsibilities including interviewing, selection, promotions, staff development, evaluations, compensation changes, employee concerns, corrective actions, terminations, and morale
- Develop and recommend operating and capital budgets and control expenditures
- Ensure compliance with Advocate Aurora policies, regulations, laws, and Code of Ethical Conduct
- Provide age-appropriate care based on patient status and developmental needs
- Float and flex across sites and departments according to operational needs
- Minimum 5 years of RN experience, including at least 1 year of current inpatient Nurse Manager experience
- Two or more years of current inpatient Nurse Manager experience strongly preferred
- Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices
- Certification in specialty within 1 year of eligibility
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, or Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree in Nursing
- Typically requires 5 years of nursing experience across multiple areas
- Includes 1 year of supervisory experience managing nursing staff and budgets at the supervisory/management level
- Advanced knowledge of nursing management concepts, clinical practice, and facility policies and procedures
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and conflict-resolution ability
- Strong human resource management aptitude
- Ability to handle multiple demands simultaneously
- Sound decision-making and critical-thinking skills
- Proficiency with computers, software, and electronic systems
- Flexibility and willingness to provide leadership support across multiple sites
- Must be willing to float and flex as site and department needs require
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently
- Occasionally able to lift over 50 lbs. with assistance
- Functional sight and hearing
- Ability to work with mechanical, electrical, chemical, radiation, blood, and body-fluid hazards
- Ability to use required personal protective equipment, including gloves, goggles, and gowns
- Ability to operate equipment essential to the job
Demonstrates advanced nursing management capabilities, including resource coordination, compliance with regulatory standards, and effective communication with diverse stakeholders. Proficient in staffing, budgeting, and implementing performance improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and satisfaction.
