Registered Nurse (RN) – Same Day Surgery Sinai 0.8 FTE

Where you will work

Downtown Milwaukee, WI, United States

  • Patient Bays: 20

  • Patient Population: outpatient procedures prep and recovery of outpatient ortho, GYN, general bariatric, robotic, urology, plastics, dental and ECT patient and IV therapy, Pre-admission testing

  • Culture: Collaborative, friendly, caring, and supportive

  • Skill Mix: Experienced nurses and aides

  • Staffing & Ratios:

    • Elective surgeries scheduled 0715–1700

  • Schedule:

    • Rotating staggered start times (0730–0830)

  • Additional Info:

    • Bariatric Center of Excellence

    • GYN Teaching Hospital

We’re Looking For:
  • Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing

  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association

  • Having 1-2 years of inpatient nursing med/surg ,ICU or ED. or periop experience

What You’ll Do:
  • Deliver individualized care using the nursing process—assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care plans tailored to each patient’s needs.

  • Monitor and respond to changes in patient condition, mobilizing resources and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure optimal outcomes.

  • Promote patient safety by implementing risk-reduction strategies and reporting safety events promptly.

  • Educate patients and families
    , adapting teaching methods to meet unique learning needs and supporting readiness for discharge.

  • Coordinate care and discharge planning through an interdisciplinary approach, ensuring continuity across the healthcare continuum.

  • Lead and delegate effectively
    , fostering teamwork and supporting unlicensed personnel.

  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient experience and unit performance.

  • Maintain professional growth through ongoing education, competency completion, and participation in shared governance activities.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies.
  • Must be able to: push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
