American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level IV Trauma Center and teaching hospital in Milwaukee, WI, requiring a minimum of 3 years of fast-paced ED experience and a full certification suite including TNCC.
Requirements- Active WI RN license or a valid Compact RN license required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC
- Minimum 3 years of ED experience in a fast-paced emergency department setting
- Most recent experience must be within the last year
- Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV skills, triage, TPA administration, blood administration, procedural sedation, and code blue response
- Working knowledge of critical care drips and medication administration required
- NIHSS experience required - certification cannot be obtained prior to start
- Triage experience strongly preferred
- At least one professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN dated within the past year required for consideration
- Candidate DOB and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration
- Work setting is a 228-bed academic teaching hospital and Level IV Trauma Center, also designated as an Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center and Geriatric Accredited Center
- Emergency Department consists of 35 beds and 6 fast track rooms, with an average of 168 patients seen per day
- Patient population spans neonates to geriatrics, with a heavy mental health volume, trauma cases (GSW, stabbings, falls, MVC), and invasive neuro/STEMI cases that are stabilized and transferred
- Patient ratios are 1:4 (acuity-based) on main ED and 1:6 in Fast Track
- Charting system is Epic; experience with Epic is expected
- Alaris and Pyxis are used on the unit
- 12-hour day shifts, , 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend rotation required
- Holiday coverage required for every other major holiday
- No on-call or call-back requirements
- No floating required
- Unit is supported 24/7 by unit secretaries, ED techs (blood draws, glucose checks), charge nurses, phlebotomy, respiratory therapy, ED physicians, mid-level providers, and security
- ED Educator, OT, PT, and ST are also available on unit
- Unit is a locked environment with security stationed in the ED lobby
- Central and bedside telemetry monitoring available
- Orientation consists of 2 twelve-hour shifts on the unit
- Scrubs may be any color as long as they are professional in appearance
- Free parking available in designated employee areas
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate - no radius restriction
- First-time travelers may be considered on a case-by-case basis with strong ED experience
- Former employees of Advocate Health or any of its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before being eligible for this travel position
