- Provide comprehensive patient care using the nursing process: assess, plan, implement individualized interventions, and evaluate outcomes
- Include patients and families in care planning and maintain therapeutic relationships throughout the healthcare continuum
- Recognize changes in patient condition and coordinate appropriate interventions and resources
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to coordinate patient-centered care
- Implement strategies to reduce patient risk and increase patient safety
- Assess patient and family readiness to learn and address learning needs
- Coordinate discharge planning using an interdisciplinary approach
- Apply evidence-based practice and nursing and regulatory standards
- Evaluate patient, team, and unit outcomes and support shared governance initiatives
- Communicate effectively, provide feedback, resolve conflicts, and promote healthcare team collaboration
- Lead the care team and delegate appropriately to unlicensed personnel
- Identify patient-safety threats, report safety events and near misses, and assist with corrective actions
- Apply ethical decision-making and participate as an effective member of the patient care team
- Participate in quality and process improvement initiatives
- Engage in professional development, mentoring, required meetings, educational programs, and annual competencies
- Float across multiple acute-care facilities within the defined market as part of the Zone 2 multi-site float pool
- Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Completion of an accredited or approved program in Nursing
- Typically requires 1 year of experience in clinical nursing
- Ability to provide holistic, patient- and family-focused care
- Ability to recognize situational changes requiring unplanned or unanticipated interventions
- Proficient computer skills, electronic mail, and electronic medical records systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication, listening, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to develop rapport and maintain positive professional relationships with patients, team members, and physicians
- Ability to take initiative and work collaboratively
- Ability to make critical, independent decisions
- Excellent organization, prioritization, and problem-solving skills
- Time management and multitasking skills in an interruption-heavy environment
- Coordination, collaboration, delegation, and team-building skills
- Ability to provide age-appropriate care and interpret age-specific patient data
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. over the head
- Ability to carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance
- Ability to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force
- Ability to perform a 150-lb. sliding transfer with a second person
- Functional speech, vision, hearing, touch, and fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures
- Ability to operate all equipment necessary to perform the job
- Must maintain annual educational requirements for hospital-based certifications
