Job Overview
The RN in this role will use clinical expertise outside of the bedside in a fast‑paced setting, serving as a central communication source for all aspects of the patient transfer and consultation process, including direct ED/inpatient admissions and critical care transport. The RN facilitates communication with specialty providers, medical control, the transport team, and patient placement, and acts as a resource to community and hospital‑based providers.
Shift& Schedule
Full‑time or part‑time hours available: 24, 30, or 36 per week. 12‑hour night shifts with shift differential and night premium. Weekend rotation on every third weekend. On‑site at the Milwaukee main campus in an office setting.
Compensation$2,500 sign‑on bonus (available for external candidates only).
Responsibilities- Serve as the central communication hub for patient transfer and consultation processes.
- Facilitate communication among specialty providers, medical control, transport teams, and patient placement.
- Act as a resource for community and hospital‑based providers.
- Demonstrate effective communication, critical thinking, and the ability to multitask while following clinical practice guidelines.
- Work independently with strong time‑management, prioritization, and multitasking skills.
- Knowledge of a variety of pediatric healthcare specialties, level of care, symptom identification, and critical‑thinking for triage and management of consult and transport requests.
- Basic proficiency with computers – Microsoft Office, web browsing, document access, and electronic health record systems.
- 3+ years experience as an RN required OR 3+ years transport experience as an RCP required.
- Pediatric experience preferred.
- Previous critical care, emergency room, or transport experience preferred.
- Epic ASAP and Epic Rover experience preferred.
- Associate’s Degree in Nursing required;
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing Science preferred. - Associate’s Degree in Respiratory Care required.
- RN – Registered Nurse or License Respiratory Care Practitioner.
- BLS – Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (required).
- PALS – Pediatric Advanced Life Support (required within 180 days).
