What You'll Learn
* Tree Care & Maintenance:
Planting, watering, mulching, pruning, and monitoring tree health.
* Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) Management:
Assist with chemical injections and learn pest control strategies.
* Data Collection & Analysis:
Prepare reports, maintain records, and analyze urban forestry data.
* Public Engagement:
Communicate with residents about tree care and city programs.
* Safety & Equipment Use:
Operate hand tools and small motorized equipment safely and effectively.
What You Bring
* Education:
Currently enrolled in a two- or four-year college program in arboriculture, urban forestry, horticulture, or a related field.
* Knowledge &
Skills:
* Familiarity with urban forestry programs and plant biology.
* Ability to identify tree species, pests, and diseases.
* Strong communication skills-both verbal and written.
* Competence in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).
* Certifications & Requirements:
* Valid WI Driver's License and good driving record.
* State of Wisconsin Commercial Pesticide Applicator Certification (Category 3.0 - Turf and Landscape) within 30 days of employment.
* Physical Ability:
Comfortable working outdoors in variable weather conditions and performing heavy manual labor, including lifting, bending, kneeling, and operating equipment.
