Liphatech Safety Compliance Specialist Milwaukee, WI

Summary:

Supports the organization in maintaining compliance with all Corporate, State, and Federal Environmental Health and Safety regulations. Assists with the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of safety programs, policies, and procedures to help ensure a safe and compliant workplace for employees, contractors, and visitors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Comply with all Liphatech safety policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate an excellent safety behavior and attitude. Follow regulatory practices and rules, recognize and promote hazard reporting and ensure effective safety reporting.
  • Assist with the implementation, maintenance, and compliance of all company safety programs, procedures, and initiatives.
  • Support the development and maintenance of procedures design to prevent workplace injuries.
  • Act as an information conduit to bring safety issues to the attention of management and to deliver safety information to the organization’s staff, contractors and stakeholders.
  • Conduct and support safety training activities related to OSHA’s required programs and regulatory within the organization.
  • Maintain accurate, complete and current safety files, logs and records.
  • Responsible for the preparation and updates of the Liphatech Emergency Action Plan and Fire Prevention Plan.
  • Monitor facility compliance with safety policies and procedures and report identified non‑conformances to management.
  • Perform and document routine safety drills.
  • Support housekeeping program execution and monitoring; document findings and report results to management.
  • Conduct, document and post plant safety and housekeeping audits.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous safety improvement and assist in their implementation.
  • Conduct risk assessments and support the enforcement of prevention measures.
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant health & safety legislation and best practices.
  • Develop and maintain written reports regarding the condition of the building’s exterior and interior (i.e. landscaping, parking lot, etc.) as they relate to safety issues.
  • Manage and schedule the safety committee meeting on a monthly basis.
  • Ensure that all accidents and near misses are reported and investigated in a timely manner.
  • Report required information to State and Federal Regulatory Agencies (example SARA 22-313).
  • Manage Hazardous Waste Program in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Model and promote an organizational culture that fosters safety and quality practices through effective leadership.
  • Maintain SDS’s to ensure they are up to date based on current vendor purchases and regulatory compliance.

Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety & Health or equivalent.
  • One (1) to three (3) years of experience running a Safety Program in a chemical manufacturing environment perferred.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and applicable State safety regulations.
  • Completion of 30 hours OSHA training class.
Protective Clothing/Equipment Requirements
  • Requires use of safety glasses and safety shoes.
  • Ability to wear half-face or full-face respirator and adhere to Respirator Policy.
  • Must use other protective clothing/equipment as required by specific tasks.
