Job Description
Mead & Hunt’s corporate Foresight Innovation Technology (FIT) program cultivates a culture of continuous improvement, exploration, and innovation across the firm. FIT supports applied research and development that creates value for clients, addressing emerging trends and technologies transforming the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry.
We are seeking a forward‑thinking individual with a strong research and development background to explore innovation topics such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, automation, digital twins, robotics, environmental engineering, and emerging software tools. The selected intern will work in‑person at our West Allis, WI office, contributing to small teams, researching topics, analyzing data, and relating findings to real‑world AEC applications.
Internship hours are 16‑24 hours per week, with the potential to extend up to 40 hours. The internship includes mentorship, collaboration with company leaders, and a final presentation and written summary of research findings to the FIT program and leadership.
Requirements- Enrolled in a degree program and completed at least two semesters of college‑level coursework in engineering, software engineering, computer science, artificial intelligence, data science, cyber security, or a related technical field.
- Demonstrated completion of at least one academic or applied project with a strong research component.
- Prior research experience in AI, machine learning, data science, automation, digital twins, robotics, environmental engineering, or related topics.
- Experience collaborating in small, project‑based team environments.
- Experience analyzing data and compiling findings into a written summary report.
- Experience working in virtual team environments.
- Programming or data analysis skills (e.g., Python, Java, C, machine learning libraries).
- Experience with databases and SQL programming.
- Familiarity with Agile, project‑based development, or structured research workflows.
- Experience presenting and summarizing research findings for technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Microsoft Office proficiency, especially Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Strong communication and organizational skills, self‑motivation, and the ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
