Overview

The AMSOIL Chemical Laboratory team is looking for a Chemical Lab Intern for summer 2026. The summer internship program typically begins after spring semester and ends before the start of the fall semester. This is an exciting opportunity for students who are highly motivated, enjoy a challenge, and are looking to expand their career. This position reports on-site to the lab in our manufacturing facility in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Responsibilities
  • Support routine testing in LIMS (Lab Information Management System) and additional ongoing projects. Tests related to LIMS sampling include viscosity, FTIR, API gravity, particle counts, and more.
  • Assist working with laboratory instrumentation and glassware.
  • Contribute to a safe and clean laboratory environment.
  • Adhering and contributing to processes, protocols, and work instructions.
Position Requirements
  • Must be working towards a bachelor’s or associate’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Must have completed Sophomore year of bachelor’s degree or completed 1 year (2 semesters) of associate’s degree.
  • Available 40 hours/week Monday – Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. during the summer months.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with technical and non-technical team members.
  • Creative thinking, problem-solving skills, and curiosity.
  • Detailed accuracy in testing and documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other software.
  • Mindfulness to responsibilities in laboratory safety and best practices.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively on a team.
  • An understanding of basic chemistry, materials science, nomenclature, and associated testing.
  • Excellent time management skills.
