Position Overview
This Research Technician role within the 4- CYTE Collaboratory, Department of Biomedical Sciences, plays a vital role in executing molecular and cellular biology experiments, including DNA cloning, PCR, gel electrophoresis, and in‑vitro assays such as ELISA and western blot. The position involves small rodent surgeries, histological analysis, and rigorous documentation to ensure data integrity and reproducibility. The incumbent also manages lab supplies and equipment, adheres to safety and ethical standards, communicates findings to the research team, supervises student employees, and contributes to protocol optimization and publication preparation.
Duration:
Limited Term (End Date of Assignment: 06/30/2026). Position Type:
Staff. Hours per week: 37.5.
- Day‑to‑day hands‑on operational molecular and cellular biology and biochemistry experiments, following established protocols, maintaining equipment, and conducting quality checks.
- Perform small rodent surgeries and post‑surgical care, as well as histological analysis.
- Maintain meticulous laboratory notebooks and documentation to ensure reproducibility and integrity of results.
- Manage laboratory supplies, equipment, samples and reagents, staying informed about new developments.
- Communicate progress, challenges, and results to the principal investigator and research team, assist in troubleshooting and optimizing protocols, and help prepare data for reports and publications.
- Supervise student employees, including hiring, training, disciplinary actions, and termination of assignments.
Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Neurobiology, Neuroscience, Biochemistry, or Molecular Biology.
- Basic neuroscience and cell biology knowledge.
- Experience with molecular and cellular biology and biochemistry techniques.
Skills and Abilities
- Hands‑on research experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, neuroscience, or a related discipline.
