This position is responsible for the food service operation at the assigned Correctional Center. It will direct the production of meals, train, and supervise persons in our care (PIOC) food service workers. The role plans meals, procures supplies, maintains food inventory, and ensures proper sanitation standards.
The employee hired into this position will need a Serv Safe Food Handler Certification (or equivalent) within six months of hire.
Working ConditionsFood service workers will work in a commercial‑style kitchen in close proximity to other staff and PIOC workers. The position requires frequent lifting and carrying objects of up to 50 lbs., sitting, standing, and may require climbing ladders or stairs. The position must also comply with the facility’s health policies, including those regarding Tuberculosis Screening and Hepatitis Vaccination.
Salary InformationThis position is in pay schedule and range 03‑13 with a starting pay of $23.94/hour
. Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire. A probationary period is required.

- This position is not eligible for remote work and will work on site.
- Anticipated schedule: day‑time hours Monday – Friday with occasional weekends, evenings, and holidays. Specifics can be discussed at interview.
- Must have the ability to work up to 14 hours per day and more than 40 hours per week on any shift based on daily operational needs. This may include weekends and holidays.
- This position is FLSA Non‑Exempt.
- This position is not anticipated to travel on a regular basis, but may travel occasionally for training, meetings, conferences, or similar events.
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (citizen, lawful permanent resident, or alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.
- The Department of Corrections may conduct pre‑employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre‑employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.
