Job OverviewYou will run a retail operation that directly supports the men and women of the United States Coast Guard. As an Hourly Store Manager for the Coast Guard Exchange (CGX) in Milwaukee, WI, you’ll lead a team whose work strengthens the quality of life for active‑duty members, veterans, and their families.
Responsibilities- Manage a retail activity with annual sales of under $5M, directing and supervising all store personnel.
- Assist customers and resolve complaints; interview, hire, train, and coach staff.
- Develop and promote sales in conjunction with CSC HQ staff, conduct competitive price checks, and collaborate with vendors and HQ buying staff.
- Oversee store recovery, vending, and warehouse operations.
- Ensure compliance with Loss Prevention policies, shrink control, and safety standards.
- Guarantee all employees receive Coast Guard required training, including Civil Rights Awareness and Sexual Harassment Prevention, and display all required CG and Federal posters.
- Conduct key duties such as opening and closing the store, reviewing monthly P&L, and providing corrective action when necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum:
- Two years of progressively responsible experience equivalent to a department manager or assistant manager, or completion of the CGX Leadership Development program, or current USCG NAF employee with key store operations experience.
- Ability to routinely lift 10 pounds and occasionally lift 25 pounds and stand for long periods of time.
Preferred:
- P&L analysis experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in retail or business administration with at least two years of specialized experience; general business experience may substitute on a year‑for‑year basis.
- Current USCG NAF department manager or assistant manager.

- Residency requirements:
Non‑U.S. nationals must have resided within the United States or territories for at least three of the last five years. - Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer mandatory for payroll and travel payments.
