Hourly Store Manager I FT 6794
Full Time 30-40 hrs Milwaukee, WI, US
Position:
Hourly Store Manager I Salary: $20.50/hr + DOE
We are seeking a dedicated manager to oversee retail operations at the Coast Guard Exchange in Milwaukee, supporting active‑duty members, veterans, and their families.
Duties- Manage retail activity with annual sales of under $5M, directing and supervising all store personnel.
- Assist customers and resolve complaints.
- Interview, hire, train, and direct training of assigned personnel.
- Encourage and develop employees through coaching, training, and growth opportunities.
- Assist in developing promotional sales in collaboration with CSC HQ staff.
- Oversee competitive price checks and submit changes to HQ buying staff.
- Work with vendors and HQ buying staff to execute operations of assigned departments.
- Ensure store recovery and supervise vending and warehouse operations.
- Welcome customers, maintain product knowledge, and assist with merchandise selection.
- Respond promptly to customer concerns with a sense of importance.
- Open and close the store as required, including scheduled weekends.
- Review monthly P&L’s, comparing actual figures to plan, and initiate actions to bring results in line.
- Ensure loss‑prevention policies are followed and stay alert to shrink and the Alert Line.
- Ensure all employees receive Coast Guard required training (e.g., Civil Rights Awareness, Sexual Harassment Prevention).
- Display CG and federal required posters prominently and visibly.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Two years of progressively responsible experience in a department manager or assistant manager role, completion of the CGX Leadership Development program (LDP), or current USCG NAF employee with comparable responsibilities.
- Ability to routinely lift 10 pounds, occasionally lift 25 pounds, and stand for long periods of time.
Preferred Qualifications
- P&L analysis experience.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with an emphasis in retail or business administration, or equivalent general business experience.
- Current USCG NAF department manager or assistant manager (additional qualification).
