Meat Associate

Spartan Nash Associates, LLC is seeking a Meat Associate to support daily operations in our meat department. In this on-site retail role, you will cut, trim, package, label, and merchandise fresh meat products while following strict food safety and sanitation standards. You will assist customers with product selection, special requests, and questions, ensuring a friendly, people-first experience. Responsibilities include rotating stock, checking temperatures, maintaining clean work areas, and supporting inventory and case setup.

Responsibilities

• Cut, trim, and portion meat products according to company standards and customer requests
• Package, weigh, and label meat products accurately using department equipment
• Maintain strict food safety, sanitation, and temperature control procedures
• Rotate stock using FIFO and monitor product quality and freshness
• Merchandise and replenish meat cases to ensure attractive, full displays
• Assist customers with product selection, cooking suggestions, and special orders
• Operate knives, saws, and scales safely and follow all safety guidelines
• Support inventory counts and report low stock or shrink issues to supervisors
• Clean and sanitize work areas, tools, and equipment regularly
• Collaborate with teammates to meet department sales and service goals
