Overview

Sr. Regional Auction Sales Manager position describes responsibilities for executing the asset disposal process for matured off-lease and repossessed vehicles, supporting Eastern and Western Regional Auction Managers, verifying units are sale-ready, assigning vehicles to the appropriate sales channel, and providing on-site and remote support for auction events. On-site work is at Manheim Auction offices in Caledonia, WI.

What You Will Do

Manage daily physical auction vehicle preparation, assess vehicle condition, and approve cost-effective repairs to increase resale value in line with reconditioning ROI objectives and company policies.

Execute sale-day strategy: manage auction day activities to meet pricing and conversion targets, provide on-site and remote support during auction events, coordinate with auction operations and auctioneers to ensure smooth day-of-sale processes, confirm recon status and lot readiness, manage disclosures and holds, and ensure accurate run order and announcements.

Set and manage pricing controls (floor/reserve guidance, bid conditions, approvals) in accordance with pricing discipline and goals.

Monitor bidding in real time, diagnose low engagement, and deploy corrective actions such as re-run, reposition, conversion to different channel, or pricing adjustments.

Promote inventory to targeted dealer segments, engage key buyers, and drive participation and conversion.

Handle sale-day exception management (title/announcement disputes, arbitration risk, condition issues, buyer complaints) with auction and internal teams to protect proceeds and customer experience.

Validate post-sale results and data integrity (sold/unsold status, price entries, fees, buyer information) and ensure timely downstream processing.

Communicate sale-day performance to regional auction managers and remarketing leadership with highlights, variances from targets, root causes, and immediate next steps.

Guide auction leadership to develop a consistent dealer buyer base, evolve auction processes, and deliver weekly performance targets and improvement follow-ups.

Lead continuous improvement on conversion and pricing by reviewing weekly performance trends and implementing corrective actions with auction leadership.

Qualifications

Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in vehicle remarketing, auction operations, or asset management with a track record of successful auction sales management.
Bachelor’s degree in finance, business or related field.
Strong understanding of the automobile industry, including dealer, auto auction relationships, and wholesale vehicle processes as they apply to asset disposal.
Knowledge of vehicle reconditioning, title processing, and compliance requirements.
Attention to detail and quality; ability to work autonomously and in a team environment.
Results-oriented with integrity, creativity and good judgment; ability to challenge existing practices when appropriate.
Excellent verbal and written communication, including presentation skills; strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Strong organizational and communication skills to coordinate across multiple teams and stakeholders.
Problem-solving mindset with a focus on maximizing value and operational efficiency.
Ability to travel as needed for on-site auction support.

Driving Requirements

Employee must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Daily driving and travel across regions; some overnight travel to other auction locations.

Employees in this class are subject to extended periods of sitting, standing, and walking, with vision to monitor and moderate noise levels. Work is performed in a home and office environment.
