Description

Reporting to the Inside Sales Manager, the Inside Sales Representative will be responsible for exceeding sales targets, reducing controllable returns and allowances, improving the close ratio, and maintaining contribution margins. Prospecting and business development activities will be a daily focus to gain market share. Using a consultative approach, the Inside Sales Representative will educate customers on the benefits of choosing Wagner with ease and confidence, generating sufficient monthly quoting activity to support the sales target and maintaining a balanced distribution of workflow to ensure customer expectations are met.

Receives and processes sales orders, component recommendations, price quotations, inventory research, and coordination with internal business areas, ensuring customer satisfaction while performing services to resolve problems and answer customer questions.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Answer incoming phone calls and make follow‑up calls to customers to build relationships and secure future business
  • Quote stock levels, lead times and pricing on basic Architectural or Industrial repeat product
  • Gather appropriate information from customers to create customer accounts in the current business system
  • Provide consistent and thorough communication between the customer, Estimating, Customer Service, and other Departments to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Interact positively and professionally with all internal and external customers
  • Prospect and conduct daily business development activities to gain market share
  • Consistently maintain sufficient phone activity each day to exceed sales target
  • Generate sufficient monthly quoting activity to support sales target
  • Maintain high levels of accuracy and proficiency to minimize returns and allowances
  • Create a business plan for assigned territory in coordination with Inside Sales Lead
  • Ensure quotes are sent out in a timely manner, recognizing that speed wins in many instances
  • Maintain a balanced distribution of workflow to meet customer expectations
  • Follow up on Marketing/Tradeshow Leads in a reasonable timeframe
  • Cross‑promote all product lines
  • Utilize technology – Epicor, Dodge, iSqFt, Google Alerts, Linked In, Territory Searches
  • Coordinate and qualify incoming Invitations to Bid (ITB’s) promptly
  • Maintain a battle board in conjunction with Regional Account Executives and Inside Sales Lead
  • Identify projects and documents correctly within Epicor
  • Communicate frequently and effectively with Regional Account Executives
  • Manage territory/market pricing to maximize margins and project wins in coordination with manager
  • Perform other job duties as assigned

    Education and Experience
  • Minimum of a high school education or GED and one to three years of related experience in sales and/or customer service; or a combination of education and experience
  • Good foundation in basic math skills
  • Good working knowledge of computers and web navigation

  • Ability to read and interpret dimensions of faxed, e‑mailed drawings for quoting stock products
  • Interact positively and professionally with all internal and external customers
  • Enter concise notes for every customer contact
