Job Description

The Process Chemist maintains the chemistry used in the plating process through a variety of analytical means. The role works with a team to collect, analyze, interpret, and report solution conditions, and reports directly to the Analytical Laboratory Supervisor. The Process Chemist also interfaces with the environmental group to ensure regulatory compliance and fosters teamwork between the lab and the production team.

Responsibilities
  • Collect and analyze solution samples per schedule.
  • Interpret, graph, and report data.
  • Calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments.
  • Maintain and calibrate chemical analysis equipment on the production floors, including EN analytic controllers and pH meters.
  • Troubleshoot simple solution and instrument issues.
  • Conduct Hull Cells on plating solutions and interpret results.
  • Provide input on analysis and schedule.
  • Maintain analytical records.
  • Responsible for lab supplies inventory.
  • Provide troubleshooting and guidance to chemistry-related issues on the process plating lines.
  • Run and interpret lab-scale plating processes (DOE and Hull Cells) and analyze results.
  • Provide input for solutions maintenance.
  • Possess a continuous improvement mentality.
  • Ensure that company policies and procedures are being followed.
  • Make additions to production chemistry tanks.
  • Provide support for environmental staff by performing basic lab functions.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly workspace.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental policies.
Qualifications and Education Requirements

The right candidate should possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or another related field.

Preferred Skills

This person should have great communication skills, a strong math and chemistry background, be well organized, and able to work with little direct supervision.

Physical Demands

The physical requirements of this position include being able to lift 50lbs, pass a cardiopulmonary test, and wear a respirator when required.

Work Environment

The work environment is a fast‑paced, manufacturing job‑shop. A variety of chemical baths are used on the manufacturing floor daily, and proper care and focus must be taken to ensure safety. Communication and teamwork are highly valued within the company, as well as the push for continual improvement.
