Position Summary

The Mitchell Field Security Officer - Senior position is responsible for providing guidance and training to support the operations of DMA State Security located at the 128th Air Refueling Wing, Mitchell Field, Milwaukee, WI. This position is responsible for ensuring that officers on shift are correctly completing the required duties of the department in accordance with regulations and policies. This position will also function as a trainer for all State Officers assigned to Mitchell Field working closely with Air National Guard (ANG) Security Forces (SF) training manager to ensure the officers are completing their required training.

This position will also perform the duties of a Mitchell Field Security Officer to accomplish the mission of securing and protecting personnel, property, and resources within Mitchell Field.

This position is on second or third shift (2nd or 3rd shift), dependent on department needs. Schedule is 5 days per week, 1:30 pm - 10:00 am for 2nd shift, 9:30 pm - 6:00 am for 3rd shift and may include working weekends and holidays.

Salary Information

New hires currently start at $27.05
* per hour once they pass the qualification to carry firearms.

* This starting wage consists of:

* a base pay of $25.05 per hour,

* a $2.00 per hour add-on to the hourly rate for carrying a firearm while on duty; DMA will provide the required firearm training.

This position includes an excellent benefits package and is in pay schedule / range 05-12. For current permanent state employees, pay will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.

These positions also have Protective Occupation Status within the Wisconsin Retirement System, which is an accelerated retirement benefit.

The Department of Military Affairs does not sponsor work visas at the time of hire or anytime during employment. All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required Employment Eligibility Form I-9.

Job Details

* Must be at least 18 years old.

* Must possess a High School Diploma, G.E.D., or H.S.E.D.

* Must possess or be eligible to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license as a condition of continued employment.

* Must be able to obtain and maintain a military driver's license as a condition of continued employment. You will be trained on specific vehicles and will receive assistance to obtain the licensure if you do not already possess.

* Must qualify to carry firearms and remain qualified as a condition of employment. To be qualified, must not have been convicted of a felony or any domestic abuse charges or convictions.

* Must meet the physical and mental standards established by applicable military regulations. Will be required to pass a pre-employment medical exam, drug screen, psychological exam, and physical agility test. In addition, will be required to pass an annual physical agility test.

* Apply for and be successful in obtaining a military security clearance up to Secret as per Air Force Instruction 31-501 (AFI 31-501) and other applicable regulations.

* In order to gain access to the military facilities and to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled, DMA will conduct a comprehensive background check.

In addition, the position requires a Common Access Card (CAC). A CAC requires successful completion of a Department of Defense investigation and an additional more in-depth federal background check, for gaining access to federal computer systems, restricted locations, or classified information.

* All new permanent, project, and limited term employees will be required to report to Joint Force Headquarter in Madison on the Monday of their first week of employment for the New Employee Orientation (NEO) program. Additional information will be sent to the new employees and their supervisors on the Tuesday prior to NEO.

Candidates who meet minimum qualifications will have experience with:

* Providing training to security and/or law enforcement officers.

* Performing typical security activities for an organization (patrol, entry control, protection of property, etc,)
